Melbourne Airport has unveiled plans for Elite Park, a 32-hectare entertainment, leisure and retail precinct which will create 2,140 jobs. Located between the Tullamarine Freeway and Airport Drive, the development will draw its workforce mainly from the surrounding Hume and Brimbank communities.
Subject to Federal Government approval, Elite Park will be built in three stages over around nine years with construction commencing in 2025. First tenants will open by end of 2026.
Chief of Ground Transport, Property and Retail, Jai McDermott said the project is a destination for work and leisure, enhancing the local community experience.
“Melbourne Airport is more than just an airport. We are building community spaces that create jobs and places where people can spend time with friends and family,” McDermott said. “Urbnsurf is a great example of this. Australia’s first surf park is now one of the most popular attractions in Victoria, with hundreds of thousands of people visiting each year. Elite Park will build on this success and support the growth of the City of Hume as a tourist destination.”
Elite Park will have a mix of entertainment and leisure, food and beverage and large format retail tenants. “We have one of our expected tenants is Topgolf who will bring their first facility to Melbourne,” McDermott said. “In addition to thousands of jobs this will create around $246 million in economic benefit to Victoria each year, a big boost for the state.”
The plans for Elite Park are on formal public exhibition now, with the community able to provide feedback until 20 December. More information about the project, public consultation sessions and how to have your say are on the Melbourne Airport website.
